onchioides Lesson, 1826 : pl. 14, fig. 4, 4D [ Buchanania ],
type locality unknown (“baie de la Concepcion, au Chili,” [ Chile] according to Lesson 1832: 61).
— Type material not located.
― Regarded as an onchidiid by Gray (1850: 117, pl. 214, fig. 3) and Adams and Adams (1858: 235), but not mentioned by more recent authors ( Semper 1885; Plate 1893; Hoffmann 1928; Labbé 1934a). The date of publication is 1826 because the illustrations of Buchanania onchioides (pl. 14, fig. 4, 4D) were accompanied by the species name, although a written description was published later (Lesson 1830: 296—297). The specific name was subsequently changed by Lesson (1830: 296—297; 1832: 60) to onchidioides. In any case, this species, characterized by a dorsal anus and lateral gills, is clearly not an onchidiid. It was classified in Fissurellidae by McLean (1984).
