― Valid ( Semper 1885; Plate 1893; Hoffmann 1928; Labbé 1934a). This was the first species of onchidiid ever described, and the type species, by monotypy, of Onchidium . It was erroneously described as nonhermaphroditic by Buchannan. Stoliczka (1869) re-described its anatomy. It lives in brackish wetlands, especially on Typha elephantina ( Stoliczka 1869) .
