( Figs. a–f View FIGURES a–f )
Type material. Holotype: ♀ , paratype 1 ♀, Sunan, Gansu, 2003-VIII-6, collected by Wang Wen-Qiang & Li XinJiang.
Female. Body larger and more robust. Head obviously shorter than pronotum. Vertex short and broad, apex curved. Frons vertical in profile, frontal ridge with distinct lateral carinae and slightly broaden between antennae, slightly constricted below median ocellus and not reaching to clypeus downwards. Antennae shorter, not reaching posterior margin of pronotum, length of a middle segment 4.0 times width. Foveolae distinct, triangular. Eyes oval, vertical diameter 1.6 times horizontal diameter and equal to subocular groove. Pronotum coarse, with dense short carinae, anterior margin protruding in the middle, posterior margin nearly right angular; whole length of median carina weak, obviously incised by hind sulcus, metazona 1.9 times prozona, lateral keels of pronotum slightly displayed on metazona. Prosternum appreciably swelled. Tegmina longer, reaching the middle hind tibia, radius ( R) vein with 4 branches, media (M) vein with 1 branche, cubitus (Cub) vein with two branches, intercalary vein of medial area very weak. Hindwings slightly shorter than tegmina, main longitudinal veins obviously thickened in basal half. Minimum width of interspace between mesosternal lobes 2.1 times its length. Hind femur dumpy, length 3.6 times maximal width, upper basal lobe longer than down basal lobe, dorsal carina wholly smooth, upper keel of outer side serrated in terminal half, lower knee lobes of inner side curved. Outer side of hind tibia with 9 spines, and the inner side with 11 spines, outer apical spine absent. Arolium between claws not reaching to the middle of claws. Tympanal organ developed, tympanic flap small, almost not covering tympanic cavity. Cerci long cylindrical. Supra-anal plate triangular. Ovipositor short and thick, apex blunt, upper external margin of upper valve smooth. Subgenital plate oblong, hind margin curved; base part narrower.
Coloration: General coloration brown. Basal part of elytra darkish, other part brown. Base of hindwings basal half pale yellow and apical part smoking, Hind femora with a wide yellow ring near knees, inner and lower side black, upper and outer side with three darker fasciae. Hind tibia yellow, base dark, dark in apex. Tarsus yellow.
Measurement: Length of body: ♀ 36.5–40.1 mm. Length of elytra: ♀ 28.9–33.8 mm. Length of hind femur: ♀ 20.1–20.7 mm.
The new species is allied Bryodemella (s. str.) elegans Li, 1997 , but it differs from the latter in five characters (see table 1 View TABLE 1 ).
Male: unknown.
Etymology The specific epithet is named for the type locality, Sunan.
