5. Scottmoria garagarae (Pittier) Cornejo & Prance , comb. nov.
Basionym: Eschweilera garagarae Pittier, Contr. US. Nat. Herbarium View in CoL 26(1): 12. 1927.—Type: Panama. Foothills of Garagara mountains, south of Darién, 6 Feb 1912 (fr), Pittier 5616 (holotype: US 00117461!; isotype US 00997549!).
This species has previously been regarded as a synonym of Eschweilera integrifolia (Ruiz & Pavon ex Miers) R. Knuth (1939: 97) ( Mori & Prance, 1990) and of S. integrifolia (Ruiz & Pavon ex Miers) Cornejo in Vargas et al. (2024: 174). It is recognized here by the longer rachis of inflorescence, 2–5 cm long (vs. rachis up to 2 cm long), sepals narrowly triangular to oblong (vs. sepals broadly ovate to hemiorbicular); fruit chocolate-brown at maturity (vs. fruit green at maturity), with the infra-calycine zone poorly developed, truncate or nearly so from calycine ring to pedicel-hypanthium (vs. with the infra-calycine zone developed, convex from calycine ring to pedicel-hypanthium).
