Jugals of Chamaeleo chamaeleon have a thin and pointed anterior process and a dorsoventrally expanded posterodorsal process. A number of very small tubercles is present on the lateral surface of the latter ( Fig. 16C View Figure 16 ): they are aligned and run parallel to the concave dorsal margin. The length of the two processes is similar. The palatal process is represented by a low and sharp ridge running longitudinally on the medial surface of the anterior process ( Fig. 16D View Figure 16 ), whereas a developed quadratojugal process is not present. The anterior end of the jugal forms part of the lateral margin of the lacrimal foramen.
