Distribution. Almost whole territory of Ukraine except of Kherson and Mykolaiv Regions ( Yunakov,

2003 b; Yunakov et al., 2018 a). Almost whole Europe,

Azerbaijan, Central Asia, and Siberia ( Alonso-Zarazaga et al., 2017). Introduced in Canada ( Warner & Negley,

1976; McNamara, 1991; Webster, 2016), the USA ( Warner

& Negley, 1976; O’Brien & Wibmer, 1982), and New

Zealand ( Yunakov et al., 2018 a).

Biology. Polytopic, mesophylic, parthenogenetic species ( Yunakov, 2003 b; Yunakov et al., 2018 a).

Polyphagous, chortobiotic species feeding mainly on plants of the family Rosacea ( Yunakov, 2003 b; Yunakov et al., 2018 a) and has been recorded on Salix sp. , Rosa

sp., Fragaria vesca , and Sonchus arvensis ( Yunakov et al., 2018 b) . Otiorhynchus ovatus could damage fruit and coniferous trees, grapes, Fragaria sp. , and Rubus sp.

( Yunakov, 2003 b; Abdullagatova, 2009; Yunakov et al.,

2018 a).

Taxonomic notes. Except for the nominative one, the subspecies glacialis Apfelbeck, 1898 has been described from the Balkan Peninsula ( Alonso-Zarazaga et al., 2017).
