Like 5 but flowering stems ascending, usually branched at or below the middle, with 1-5 capitula; involucre usually less than 2 cm wide. 2л = 18. • Alps, S. W. Germany (Schwarzwald). Au Ga Ge He It.

Intermediates between this species and 5 occur and hybrids have been reported with 7.
