Plant greenish when dry, caespitose, with few non-flowering stems at anthesis. Stems 8-20(-30) cm, ascending to erect, slender, less than 0-7 mm in diameter, glabrous or with patent hairs; middle internodes 4-6 cm, 3-6 times as long as the leaves. Leaves 7-12(-15) x (0-6-)0-9-l-3(-l- 7)mm, in whorls of (6-)7-8(-9), linear-oblanceolate, 7|-10| times as long as wide. Inflorescence occupying more than half of the stem, laxly pyramidal, the partial inflorescences dense; pedicels c. 0-5 mm. Corolla l-2‘3(-3)mm in diameter. Fruit 1-1-2 mm, acutely papillose. 2л = 22.
