Plant densely glandular, with lanate and arachnoid indumentum. Leaves greyish. Outer involucral bracts not more than 11 times as long as the inner, erect or somewhat patent, with short spines. Inner pappus-scales usually shorter than the outer. Throughout the range of the species, except the south.
