Stems (3O-)1 OO-15O(-2OO) cm, sparingly branched in upper half, leafy above. Leaves l (-2)-pinnatisect; segments 2-3(-20) mm wide. Involucre 20-30 mm in diameter, globose; appendages triangular-lanceolate, dark brown, completely covering the bracts; fimbriae whitish, arising abruptly. Florets dark purple, rarely yellow, the outer scarcely longer than the inner. Achenes c. 4 mm, puberulent, brown; pappus c. 4 mm, pale brown. 2/7= 18. Rocky mountain slopes. • C. part of Balkan peninsula', Romania. Al?Bu Ju Rm.
