Material examined. Paratype male ( EB), INDIA: Burdwan , 9.iv.1983, D.K. Guha .
Remarks. Yan and Wang (2006) transferred the species to Demicryptochironomus . Based on the re-examination of a paratype of the species, the paratype material shows that it may belong to a different species, as it has AR 1.81 and LR 1 1.62, while in the original description Guha and Chaudhuri (1981: 143) give AR 3.5 and LR 1 1.19. However, as the holotype is unavailable, we tentatively keep the species in Demicryptochironomus .
Distribution. The species is recorded from India.
