Range: —Guadeloupe; Trinidad, Guyana, Suriname, and across Amazonia from southern Venezuela to Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, SC) and Brazil. Ecology: —Fairly common; terrestrial in humid forests, often close to streams or on waterlogged soils; to 650 m. Notes: —As defined by Cárdenas et al. (2016), this is the most widespread species of Metaxya . It is quite variable across its geographical range, and more than one species may be involved.
