Nomenclatural notes:— Smith (2023f: 292–295) discussed the typification and illustrated the holo- and epitypes of the name K. tomentosa . The earlier-published name Bryophyllum triangulare Blanco (1845: 221) , which is referable to material at present known as K. tomentosa , has been proposed for rejection ( Smith 2023g: 435–436), under Turland et al. (2018: Art. 56). This proposal, included in the report of Wilson (2024), was accepted at the final plenary session of the XXth International Botanical Congress that was held on 27 July 2024 ( Turland et al. 2024).
Taxonomic notes:—The name K. tomentosa is in use for an accepted species; its taxonomy was discussed by Smith (2023f: 292, 295–296). Kalanchoe tomentosa is one of the parents of the two horticulturally popular nothospecies K. × gildenhuysii Smith & Figueiredo (2020: 43) and K. × edwardii Smith & Shtein (2020: 120) .
The type of the name K. tomentosa is the type of K. [subg. Calophygia] sect. Stellatopilosae ( Berger 1930: 404, as “§ 1”) Smith (2020: 234).
