10. Kalanchoe integrifolia Baker (1887: 471) .

Type:— MADAGASCAR. [Reverend R.] Baron 4377 [holotype Herb. K (image of the specimen not available for examination online, not seen); isotype Herb. P barcode P00374228 ! (image of the specimen available for examination online at http://coldb.mnhn.

fr/catalognumber/mnhn/p/p00374228); note that the specimen was incorrectly databased as “[Reverend R.] Baron 4 9 77 ”. It should have been “ 4 3 77 ”].

Nomenclatural notes:— Boiteau & Allorge-Boiteau (1995: 182), who regarded the [Reverend R.] Baron 4377 specimen held at Herb. K as the holotype, are followed here. Unfortunately an image of the Herb. K specimen is not accessible online. An isotype of the name K. integrifolia is held at Herb. P. Although Descoings (2003: 159) did not indicate the sort of type of the name K. integrifolia that he cited, he apparently agreed with the view of Boiteau & Allorge-Boiteau (1995: 182) and stated that the “ T:” of the name is “ Madagascar ( Baron 4377 [K, P]).

Taxonomic notes:—The name K. integrifolia is in use for an accepted species. The type of the name K. integrifolia is the type of K. [subg. Calophygia] sect. Integrifoliae ( Berger 1930: 407, as “§ 9”) Smith (2024b: 281). Kalanchoe integrifolia is, thus far, the only species included in K. sect. Integrifoliae . Kalanchoe sub sect. Integrifoliae (A.Berger) Boiteau (1947: 9) is a homotypic synonym of K. sect. Integrifoliae .

Kalanchoe integrifolia Baker (1887: 471) var. flava Boiteau in Boiteau & Allorge-Boiteau (1995: 184) is at present included in the synonymy of K. integrifolia .

11. Kalanchoe sulphurea Baker (1887: 471) .

Type:— MADAGASCAR. Central Madagascar, received November 1885 [presumably at Herb. K], [Reverend R.] Baron 4180 (holotype, Herb. K barcode K 000232793!).

Nomenclatural notes:—The nomenclature of K. sulphurea and of the name currently accepted for it, K. porphyrocalyx ( Baker 1883: 142) Baillon (1885: 469) ( Fig. 5 ), was dealt with by Smith & Shtein (2021a: 234).

Taxonomic notes:—The name K. sulphurea is at present treated as a synonym of K. porphyrocalyx , which is included in K. subg. Alatae (Smith 2021a: 179) Smith (2023b: 64). Kalanchoe porphyrocalyx , with K. sulphurea in its synonymy, is one of two species included in K. subg. Alatae. The type of the other species included in K. subg. Alatae, K. uniflora Stapf (1908: 258) Hamet (1910: 52) , is the type of K. subg. Alatae. The taxonomy of K. subg. Alatae was treated by Smith et al. (2021b: 255–257). Kalanchoe sub sect. Epidendrae Boiteau & Mannoni (1948: 57) is a synonym of K. subg. Alatae.

FIGURE 5. Leaves of Kalanchoe porphyrocalyx are a light to mid-green colour, and the leaf margins are variously crenate. Inflorescences are comparatively few-flowered. Flowers are pendent and more or less glabrous. The colour of the corolla tube varies slightly from red to a deep purple-red, while the corolla lobes are usually light yellowish green.
