Keirans, J.E., Clifford, C.M. & Walker, J.B. (1982) The Ixodes (Afrixodes) oldi group (Acari: Ixodidae ) from sub-Saharan Africa with descriptions of five new species. Journal of Medical Entomology, 19, 309–329.
Type depositories: OVI: holotype (female) and paratypes (males, females and nymphs); BMNH and USNTC: paratypes (males, females and nymphs)
Type locality. Tsitsikama National Park , South Africa
Type host: Aonyx capensis
Comments: Keirans & Hillyard (2001) stated that the holotype is held in the USNTC, but Keirans et al. (1982) listed that specimen as deposited in the OVI, and Keirans & Clifford (1984) listed only the presence of paratypes in the USNTC. Larvae are included among paratypes of Ixodes corwini in Keirans et al. (1982) and Keirans & Hillyard (2001), but Keirans et al. (1982) stated that the larva of this tick is unknown; therefore, larvae are excluded as type specimens of Ixodes corwini .
