Type depositories: USNTC: holotype (male) and paratypes (a female and others unspecified developmental stages) ; BMNH?, VRC and ZSI: paratypes (males, females, nymphs and larvae)
Type locality: Kyasanur Forest near Barage , Shimoga District, State of Karnataka, India
Type host: the holotype specimen was collected from vegetation
Current status: a synonym of Haemaphysalis shimoga and its original name ( Camicas et al. 1998). The current status of Haemaphysalis cornigera shimoga , as Haemaphysalis shimoga , was established by Hoogstraal & El Kammah (1972).
Comments: Keirans & Hillyard (2001) stated that paratypes allegedly delivered to the BMNH were not received there .
