Type host: Collocalia spodiopygia reichenowi

Comments: in the original description it is stated that the holotype would be transferred to the ZMB, but no specimen of Ixodes collocaliae is listed in the catalog of ZMB types by Moritz & Fischer (1981). Keirans & Clifford (1984) did not specify the developmental stage of the specimen held in the USNTC, but Ixodes collocaliae was described from female ticks.
