Type depositories: BMNH: lectotype (male), paralectotypes (males, a female and a nymph), ZMB: paralectotypes (males and a nymph). The lectotype and paralectotypes were designated by Keirans & Brewster (1981)
Type locality: Bade , Central African Republic
Type host: unknown
Current status: a synonym of Haemaphysalis houyi and its original name ( Camicas et al. 1998). The current status of Haemaphysalis calcarata houyi , as Haemaphysalis houyi , was established by Hoogstraal (1954).
Comments: Keirans & Hillyard (2001) named as syntypes the specimens held in the ZMB .
