Type locality: Sardinia, Italy and Damascus, Syria

Type host: cattle

Current status: a synonym of Rhipicephalus annulatus ( Guglielmone & Nava 2014) .

Comments: male ticks are included in the original description, but none are listed in the syntype series documented by Mortiz & Fischer, 1981).
