Hiregoudar, L.S. (1975) On Rhipicephalus ticks of Gujarat, together with a description of a new species – Rhipicephalus arakeri from a common Indian rat. Mysore Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 9, 473–479.
Type depositories: ZSI?: holotype (male) and paratypes (a male, a female); USNTC?: paratype (?) ( Walker et al. 2000)
Type locality: Anand , Gujarat, India
Type host: Mus rattus
Current status: a synonym of Rhipicephalus ramachandrai , as discussed in Walker et al. (2000).
Comments: Hiredougar (1975) listed larvae and nymphs as paratypes of Rhipicephalus arakeri , but only the male and female were described. Walker et al. (2000) stated that the types were not found in the ZSI, and also listed a paratype held in the USNTC, but this specimen does not appear in the catalog of USNTC types by Keirans & Clifford (1984).
