Type locality: Ranau , Sumatra, Indonesia

Type host: Hylobates syndactylus

Comments: according to the original description, the holotype was to be transferred to the ZMB, but no specimens of Haemaphysalis hylobatis are included in the ZMB type catalog by Moritz & Fischer (1981), which contradicts Anastos (1950), although that author stated that the types had not been seen.
