Type depository: USNTC: a lectotype (male) and paralectotypes (males and a female) were designated by Hoogstraal & Kohls (1968)

Type locality: Popa , Myanmar

Type host: Melogale personatus personatus

Comments: Hoogstraal & Kohls (1968) found specimens which they believed belonged to the syntype series of Haemaphysalis heinrichi . These authors also stated that the vial containing Haemaphysalis heinrichi included one specimen of Haemaphysalis wellingtoni along with larvae and nymphs of Dermacentor sp.
