Type localities: England, France and USA

Type hosts: dog, fox, badger and squirrel

Current status: partly a synonym of Ixodes canisuga and partly a synonym of Ixodes marxi ( Guglielmone & Nava 2014) .

Comments: no specimens of Ixodes hexagonus inchoatus are listed in the USNTC type catalog by Keirans & Clifford (1984) .
