Type localities: “Congo,” Tana River, Kenya ; Delagoa Bay , Mozambique ; and Port Natal and Port Elizabeth, South Africa

Type hosts: African buffalo and elephants

Current status: a name incertae sedis in Guglielmone & Nava (2014).

Comments: syntypes of Amblyomma hassalli were not listed in the catalog of USNTC types by Keirans & Clifford (1984) .
