Type depositories: USNPC? and USNTC?: syntypes (males, females and a nymph)
Type localities: Texas, Maine and Colorado, USA
Type host: otter, Putreolus vison , sheep, cat, fox, squirrel, weasel and porcupine
Current status: a synonym of Ixodes cookei ( Neumann 1911a, Keirans & Clifford 1978).
Comments: Neumann (1901) listed the USNPC and USNTC as depositories, but no specimens were found in those collections by Salley et al. (1978) and Keirans & Clifford (1984), respectively.
