Yakimov, V.L. & Kohl-Yakimova, N. (1911) Étude des ixodidés de Russie. Archives de Parasitologie, 14, 416– 425.
Type depositories: BMNH: syntypes (a male and a female) ( Keirans & Hillyard 2001), ZIAC: a syntype (male) ( Filippova 1996, 2008)
Type locality: Saratov, Russia
Type host: dog
Comments: a neotype (male) of Rhipicephalus rossicus was designated by Filippova (1996) and repeated in Filippova (2008) for a tick collected from vegetation in the Province of Volgograd, Russia. However, Keirans & Hillyard (2001) rejected this neotype designation because syntypes of Rhipicephalus rossicus still exist, and this specimen is treated here as a syntype. Zahler et al. (1997) considered it probable that Rhipicephalus pumilio is a synonym of Rhipicephalus rossicus .
