Type locality: Pienaars River , Province of Gauteng, South Africa

Type host: Pedetes capensis

Comments: Haemaphysalis pedetes was originally identified as Haemaphysalis cooleyi , and later as Haemaphysalis numidiana , a synonym of Haemaphysalis erinacei , as discussed in Hoogstraal (1972).
