ovatus Neumann, 1899 View in CoL , Ixodes
Neumann, L.G. (1899) Révision de la famille des ixodidés (3 e mémoire). Mémoires de la Société Zoologique de France, 12, 107–294.
Type depository: ENV: syntypes (females) ( Yamaguti et al. 1971)
Type localities: Akita and Saga, Japan
Type hosts: dog, horse and Lepus sp.
Comments: Neumann (1899) included in his original description two females and one male collected in Amour and deposited in the ZSH, a depository included in Guglielmone et al. (2014), but Neumann (1911a) listed only Japan within the range of Ixodes ovatus , and apparently considered ticks from Amour to be, in fact, Ixodes ricinus . Other authors have treated these specimens as probably Ixodes persulcatus or Ixodes nipponensis , as discussed in Guglielmone et al. (2014).
