Type depository: ENV: lectotype (female) and paralectotypes (males and females); BMNH and ZMB: paralectotypes (males and females) ( Trapido 1965, Hoogstraal & Trapido 1966b)

Type locality: several localities in Japan

Type host: dog, horse or cattle

Current status: a synonym of Haemaphysalis longicornis ( Hoogstraal et al. 1968b) .

Comments: Moritz & Fischer (1981) listed several males and females deposited in the ZMB as syntypes , but these specimens are treated here as paralectotypes.
