Type depository: BMNH: a lectotype (female) and a paralectotype (female) were designated by Keirans & Brewster (1981)

Type locality: Frontera , State of Tabasco, Mexico

Type host: Didelphis sp.

Current status: a synonym of Ixodes luciae ( Keirans & Brewster 1981) .

Comments: Santos Dias (1954) renamed Ixodes loricatus spinosus (preoccupied) as Ixodes loricatus vogelsangi .
