Current status: a name incertae sedis ( Neumann 1911 a, Guglielmone & Nava 2014).

Guglielmone & Nava (2014) stated that Neumann (1897) wrote that the type locality of Dermacentor cruentus was unknown, but that author said that the type locality was “Orowitza (Banat).”
