Current status: a synonym of Amblyomma nuttalli ( Theiler & Salisbury 1959, Camicas et al. (1998).

Comments: according to Schulze (1932b), the holotype (male) was to be deposited in the MZB, but no specimen of Amblyomma werneri is listed in the ZMB type catalog by Moritz & Fischer (1981).
