Neumann, L.G. (1906) Notes sur les ixodidés. IV. Archives de Parasitologie, 10, 195–219.
Type depository: BMNH: syntypes (females and a nymph)
Type localities: Shanghai, China; Kashmir Region ( Arthur 1956)
Type hosts: Rhinolophus ferrumequinum and Vespertilio sp.
Comments: Neumann (1906) included a female collected in Gabon in his original description of Ixodes simplex , but Arthur (1956) treated this record as erroneous, stating that the tick was found in the Kashmir Region ( China?, India? Pakistan?). Ixodes simplex has not been recorded from India and Pakistan; consequently, China is considered here to be the only country of origin ( Guglielmone et al. 2023).
