Holotype: NHM, London. Type locality: Cape Province.

C. pyroeis pyroeis

Host ant: Myrmicaria nigra (Mayr 1862) . Host plants: Roepera flexuosa ; R. sessilifolia ; R. morgsana ( Zygophyllaceae ); Thesium species. Cottrell (1984) hypothesised that the structural colouring and iridescence in C. pyroeis may have evolved independently from that seen in the thysbe clade. Forewing with twelve veins. Larvae have unusually long tubercle casings to their TOs. Juvenile stages illustrated in Clark & Dickson (1971: 191).
