4.2.3 | Genus Tricimba Lioy, 1864

There are 11 species of Tricimba in Europe (Bystrowski et al., 2023) and, until now, the longitudinal grooves in the scutum were a distinctive feature of the Palearctic species assigned to this genus ( Nartshuk & Andersson, 2013). However, our data from cluster 159 show that this feature is variable. The longitudinal grooves are almost indistinct in T. atipica Riccardi (Figure 5I1), which was first assigned to the genus Conioscinella Duda. After careful examination of the male terminalia of this species (Figure 5I2) and T. cincta Meigen (Figure 5B1–2), except for the longitudinal grooves, the overall morphology of both species is similar, in agreement with their barcode data. The combination of both sources of data led the placement of T. atipica in the genus Tricimba ( Riccardi, 2024) .
