There is no information on the presence of papulae or lamellae. The presence of characters 5, 7, 9 and 10 was reported in the original description and/or in the original drawing (Pl. XVIII, fig. 9a, p. 519; Murray 1907). Murray (1907) also reported that this species “appears to be the African representative of M. intermedius ”.

As pointed out by Murray (1913), M. crassidens “is very close to M. intermedius …, being mainly distinguished by the broader nuts in the pharynx” and the eggs are very similar to M. aculeatus . According to Murray (1913), M. crassidens can be distinguished from M. allani only by its eggs. Claxton (1998) considered M. crassidens very similar to Minibiotus hispidus Claxton, 1998 and probably belonging to Minibiotus .
