Material: One fragment and one imprint (Ge 33503).

Description: Tis species is represented by oxycone compressed forms with a narrow umbilicus, high-oval whorl section, well-developed crenulated keel and almost angular umbilical edge. Ribbing is relatively weak, ribs are radial to slightly sigmoidal (a feature which is observable on the imprint), projected strongly adoraly in the latero-ventral area, not bifurcating, becoming reduced in strength, continuing until the crenulated keel. No tubercles or spines. Crenulation is fine on the inner whorls but becomes stronger on the outer ones.

Occurrence: Tis species is the index taxon of the Margaritatus Zone of the Pliensbachian standard zonation. However, its stratigraphic range is much longer, from the Subnodosus Subzone of the Margaritatus Zone to the top of Solare/ Apyrenum Subzone of the Spinatum Zone (e.g. Meister, 1988). It is widely distributed mainly in the Euroboreal and Boreal domains (Northwest Europe, West Asia, Japan, British Columbia and East Russia), it is known also from Western Tethys (Austroalpine in Austria and Hungary, Carpathians in Slovakia, Ukraine and the Czech Republic, Caucasus, Bulgaria, Iran). More scarcely, it has been documented in the Mediterranean Tethys in Southern Alps, Sicily, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco and Spain.
