Material examined: Democratic Republic of Congo: 1♀, Kindu, xi.1913, L. Burgeon, wrongly labelled as “ Type ”, identified as C. africanus by Kröber 1935 ( MRAC) .
Remarks: Although the specimen reported here is erroneously labelled as the “ Type ” of C. africanus it fits very well the redescription of this species given by Kröber (1915 b). It is clearly different from all other known Conops species and therefore the identification and use of the name C. africanus for this species appears appropriate.
