Pseudostenphylax gulmargensis sp. n.
( Figs. 5–8 View FIGURES 1 – 8 )
Diagnosis. This species also resembles P. kashmirensis of the P. aniketos Group, but differs by having apices of the intermediate appendages acutely produced in dorsal view (apices of the intermediate appendages are somewhat triangular in dorsal view in P. kashmirensis ); when seen laterally, each intermediate appendage has a small subventral protuberance and is apically slender (each intermediate appendage is truncate ventrally and apically slightly rounded in P. kashmirensis ); the preanal appendages are almost as long as the inferior appendages in lateral view (the preanal appendages are shorter than the inferior appendages in P. kashmirensis in lateral view); the phallus is apicolaterally rounded (the phallus is apicolaterally truncate in P. kashmirensis ); the parameres are slender near the base and dilated apically (the parameres are almost of the same diameter throughout their length in P. kashmirensis ).
Description. Length of each male forewing 17 mm (n=1). Body reddish brown. Legs with spines black and spurs light brown. Spur formula 1, 3, 4.
Male genitalia ( Figs. 5–8 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). Tergite VIII sloping posteroventrad in distal 1/3rd, its apical zone of spicules concave in outline in dorsal view. Segment IX reduced dorsally, moderately developed laterally with triangular prominence at mid height; moderately developed ventrally, broadly excavated anteroventrally and posteroventrally with small, triangular, mesal protrusion in each excavation. Segment X much reduced. Preanal appendages cylindrical in dorsal view, rounded apically; laterally each appearing as long triangular lobe. Intermediate appendages bilobed in dorsal view, each lobe broad near base, acutely produced apicodorsally; intermediate appendage on each side positioned almost directly above its preanal appendage in lateral view, rounded dorsally, with small triangular prominence ventrally. Large membranous structure situated below intermediate appendages in dorsal view, in lateral view this structure appearing somewhat spoon-shaped. Inferior appendages large, oval in outline in dorsal view, somewhat finger-like in lateral view; in ventral view each apically rounded with small pointed projection near centre. Phallus apically rounded, with pair of small stalks at mid length bearing long apical setae; parameres apically wider, strongly armed with distal setae mesal apex of each with small acute projection in dorsal view.
