Hemiops angularis Schwarz, 1905

Hemiops angularis Schwarz, 1905: 266 (original description; published type locality: Soekaranda, Sumatra); Schwarz, 1907: 305 (catalogue; “ Assam, Kohima”); Schenkling, 1927: 503 (catalogue; “ Assam ”); Gaedike, 1985: 16 (type catalogue).

Type Locality. Indonesia: Soekaranda , North Sumatra .

Type Depository. 1 Syntype, SU ( SDEI) .

General Distribution. Indonesia (North Sumatra).

Remark. This species was described by Schwarz (1905: 266) from Sumatra, and the only known syntype specimen housed in SDEI ( Gaedike, 1985) corresponds with the original type locality. It is surprising that Schwarz (1907: 305), in his catalogue, listed the locality of this species as “ Assam, Kohima” without any explanatory remarks, and omitted the type locality of Sumatra entirely. This incorrect locality was subsequently repeated by Schenkling (1927: 503), likely without reference to the original description or type material. We consider this to be an error; accordingly, this species is not considered to occur in India.
