C. [Cissa] minor Cabanis, 1851a View in CoL : 86 (footnote)

TL: Sunda-Inseln (Sumatra) [Sumatra, Greater Sunda Islands ].

Now Cissa chinensis minor Cabanis, 1851 . See Sharpe 1877: 86, Blake & Vaurie 1962: 243, Madge & Burn 1999: 108, Dickinson 2003: 510, Dickinson et al. 2004b: 116.

HOLOTYPE: ZMB 1535 [= ZMB 1999.2246; double registration]. [No sex or age given]. Loc.: Sumatra. Date: [not given, probably during 1833–1835]. Coll. Schönberg & Müller. [Ex, Mus, Meise MS].

COMMENTS: The ZMB register lists only this single specimen from Sumatra for the taxon in question. It is therefore most likely that Cabanis had only this specimen in front of him when describing the new taxon. The specimen was probably collected by Salmon Müller (1804–1863), from the Dutch East-India Company ( Gebhardt 1964: 251, see Lophocitta histrionica Bonaparte, 1850 , for further details). No connection to the first collector’s name, Schönberg, has been traced. The specimen was accidentally double-registered in 1999 but only the older number should be used. For the publication date of 1851 for the first part of volume 1 of Museum Heineanum see Quaisser & Nicolai (2006: 20).
