Blidingia minima

is a resilient euryhaline species ( Thom 1984). It readily grows in saltmarshes, estuaries as well as intertidal pools ( Polderman 1975; Munda 1978; Araújo et al. 2006) and was molecularly confirmed from brackish waters of the Baltic Sea ( Steinhagen et al. 2021). The thalli can be attached to hard surfaces, such as stones, rocks, boulders and wood, or rarely free-floating in sheltered water ( Škaloud et al. 2018). It is among the first colonizers of artificial substrates ( Hruby & Norton 1979). Another genetic study confirms the presence of B. minima on the Pacific Coast ( Hayden & Waaland 2002). The same strains were used as reference for T. ulvae View in CoL colonized algae in Pérez-Ortega et al. (2018). Gallardo et al. (1999) report B. minima from South Shetlands Islands, Antarctica.
