Symphylus caribbeanus Kirkaldy
Eger et al. (2015) reviewed previous host associations. Wheeler (2017) reported nymphs and adults from yaupon ( Ilex vomitoria Aiton ; Aquifoliaceae ) and fruit-bearing branches of Brazilian peppertree in six Florida counties (Glades, Hendry, Lake, Martin, Okeechobee, and Polk). We since have found S. caribbeanus on this invasive plant in the additional counties of Manatee (2 third instars, 1 ♂, and 3♀♀, west of Sandy, on 1 March 2018) and Osceola (1 adult, west of Indian Lake Estates, 3 March 2018), and have continued to collect it on Brazilian peppertree in Lake, Okeechobee, and Polk Counties.
