Cancellariidae View in CoL

Many Cancellariidae View in CoL have varices ( Fig. 2T View Figure 2 ), including most Plesiotritoninae View in CoL and a few Cancellariinae View in CoL , although varices are lacking in Admetinae View in CoL . The oldest varicate and nonvaricate species are found in the Maastrichtian Plesiotritoninae (U. Cretaceous) View in CoL , with a general trend of reducing varices in the Recent taxa of this subfamily compared to extinct Cancellariinae ( Beu & Maxwell, 1987) View in CoL . Most species of Plesiotritoninae View in CoL have a few varices scattered up the spire, while a few are at least partially synchronized, as in Tritonoharpa View in CoL ( Lozouet et al., 2001; Landau, La Perna & Marquet, 2006).
