Coiffait (1982) reported it from Algarve as Micrillus hispanicus Coiffait, 1980 View in CoL . The description of Schatzmayria meridionalis Gridelli, 1914 View in CoL , synonymy confirmed by Assing (2008 c), was originally based on two damaged syntypes, a male and a female from Lisbon. Gamarra & Outerelo (2020) reported this species from Estremadura and Algarve .
Distribution: Well known from Europe, and some countries in North Africa and Asia (Sch̡lke & Smetana, 2015).
