Boieiro et al. (1999) reported it from Tavira (Algarve). Not reported from Portugal by Sch̡lke & Smetana (2015). Gamarra & Outerelo (2020) reported this species from Douro Litoral.

Distribution: The ssp. gridellii Jarrige, 1949 is present in France, Georgia, Italy and Spain (Sch̡lke & Smetana, 2015).

Subspecies described by Coiffait (1982) from Algarve, Alportel, no date, 1 ♂, Type, (cCoi) and 4 ex., Paratypes near Tavira, no date (cCoi) and 1 ex., near Silves, no date (cCoi). Drugman & Outerelo (1997) repeated these localities. Gamarra & Outerelo (2020) reported this subspecies from Algarve.

Distribution: This subspecies is already reported from Portugal, Spain (Balearic Islands), Algeria and Madeira Island (Sch̡lke & Smetana, 2015).

Fauvel (1873) reported it from Portugal, record repeated by Oliveira (1893) and Fuente (1922). Also reported with no precise localities by Horion (1965). Serrano (1981, 1983) recorded it in Fonte do Veado (Serra da Arrábida), 2 ex., 29.VI.1978. Gamarra & Outerelo (2020) reported this species from Portugal with a question mark.

Distribution: Known from France ( Corse), Italy (Sardegna), Portugal and Spain, and also from Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Madeira and Canary Islands (Sch̡lke & Smetana, 2015).
