Parecida a la var. strigosum . Se diferencia por presentar un indumento constituido fundamentalmente por pelos antrorsos y aplicados; los pelos patentes faltan o son escasos, solo a veces abundan en la base del tallo. Pedicelos únicamente con dichos pelos aplicados, muy raramente acompañados de alguno patente o erecto-patente. 2 n = 52*; n = 26*.
Pastos secos; 800-1200 m. V-VI. S de Europa , sobre todo en el SE, Formas de tránsito hacia la var. strigosum en localidades aisladas del N de la Península Ibérica ; posiblemente en más localidades. Esp.: Hu? P?
