Plantas anuales, bienales o perennes. Sin brotes axilares que florecen después que el tallo principal. Ramas de la inflorescencia aisladas o fasciculadas. Valvas enteras o dentadas, con o sin tubérculo; pedicelos generalmente articulados en su mitad inferior.
