Pittier 12419 (lectotype, designated here: VEN–331 [digital image!]; isolectotypes: G– 00438321 [digital image!], PH–00014258 [digital image!], US –00090031!).
Nomenclatural notes:— Pittier (1937) described this taxon based on H. Pittier 12419, but did not specify a herbarium, thus indicating all specimens of that gathering as syntypes (Art. 40.2 Note 1). Berg & Villavicencio (2004) cited a holotype at VEN, but since this happened after 1 January 2001 and they did not use the term “designated here” or an equivalent statement as required by Art. 7.11, their citation did not constitute an effective designation of a lectotype. We designate VEN–331 as the lectotype because it represents the most complete and diagnostic specimen.
