120. Ficus hirsuta var. gardeniifolia (Miquel) Miquel. Ann. Mus. Bot. Lugduno-Batavi 3(10): 299. 1867. ≡ Urostigma gardeniifolium Miquel. London J. Bot. 6: 546. 1847. TYPE:— Hort. Bot. Berol., from Brazil, s.d., Annonymous s.n. (lectotype, designated here: U–0004638 [digital image!]).

Nomenclatural notes:— Miquel (1847) described this described this taxon but did not designate a type or herbarium. Berg & Villavicencio (2004) cited “Hort. Bot. Berol.” in U as the “ holotype ”, but since this happened after 1 January 2001 and they did not use the term “designated here” or an equivalent statement as required by Art. 7.11, their citation did not constitute an effective designation of a lectotype. We designate U0004638 as the lectotype because it represents the most complete and diagnostic specimen.
